Choose the thumbnail people see first
Use a clear cover image for your video and sharing tools.
In this guide
Change the cover image
- Open Share in the video editor.
- Review the current thumbnail.
- Use Choose another image to select from the tour’s photos.
- Alternatively, use Create with AI, review the options and displayed credit amount, and wait for the result.
- 1Choose another thumbnail from the tour’s photos.
Choose the cover while creating the tour
In Video thumbnail on Create a video, keep Add an AI thumbnail on to choose a layout and accent colour. The optional High-quality thumbnail has its own displayed credit amount. Turn the main option off to use the first photo as the cover instead.
- 1Turn this off to keep the first photo as the cover.
- 2Choose your accent colour and optional higher-quality cover.
Pick a photo from the gallery
Choose another image opens the available images. Check the tour photos and any previous generated thumbnails, then choose the one that presents the listing clearly.
- 1Choose the photo people will see before playing the video.
Return to the automatically created cover
If the tour has a completed automatic thumbnail and you have selected something else, Share can show Use the AI thumbnail. Select it to restore that cover. Choose another image also shows available previous thumbnails when there is more than one.
Pick a clear first impression
Choose a photo that identifies the property at a glance. If the thumbnail contains text, keep it legible at a small size. Review any generated image for accuracy before using it.
Save the cover image itself
- Open Share and check the current thumbnail preview.
- Use Download directly beneath that image.
- Check the saved image before uploading it as a cover in another app. A destination may require you to choose its cover manually.
- 1Choose another thumbnail from the tour’s photos.
What choosing a thumbnail changes
The thumbnail is the still cover used for sharing the video. It does not move a scene to the beginning or change the words inside the video. To change the opening scene, reorder the scenes and apply the video changes.
If another site shows an older image
Some destinations keep a previous preview for a link. First check the current thumbnail inside VideoTour.ai, then check the destination’s link-preview refresh options. A thumbnail is separate from the actual first scene in the video.
